Introduction A leading technical and mining services company is seeking a Workshop Assistant to support workshop operations and artisan teams. The ideal candidate will possess a solid technical background, assist with workplace inspections and EHS compliance, and hold valid certificates for specialized equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct pre-use inspections on equipment/machinery and conduct effective planned inspections. Ensure all portable equipment and hand tools are maintained in a safe condition. Adhere to SHEQ management standards, Mandatory Code of Practice, and Hazard Identification/Risk Assessment controls. Participate in SHEQ forum meetings and use required PPE as well as hazardous substances per legal standards. Solve problems effectively, act with integrity, and maintain strong time management and organizational skills. Maintain open communication with stakeholders and work effectively within a team environment. Uphold a Safety First culture and embody core company values.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12 with Maths and Science, N3 Technical Qualification, or equivalent. English proficiency required. Technical engineering background with up to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing workshop or mechanised mining environment (advantageous). Forklift licence and Crane licence required. First Aid Level 1 and a valid driver's licence are advantageous. Must have the physical and medical ability to function in an underground mining environment. Required to work standby, overtime, and shifts as needed. May be required to travel and relocate based on operational requirements.
