Introduction The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods.
The role contributes to inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, customer service and supply chain performance by ensuring warehouse activities are performed safely, accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities Receiving & Inspection
Receive incoming deliveries and verify quantities against purchase orders and delivery documentation. Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages or quality concerns. Report discrepancies immediately.
Warehouse Operations
Store stock safely in designated warehouse locations. Ensure correct stock rotation (FIFO where applicable). Maintain an organised warehouse environment. Ensure materials are readily accessible and correctly identified.
Inventory Management
Perform cycle counts and stock counts. Maintain inventory accuracy. Capture inventory transactions using warehouse systems. Assist with stock investigations and reconciliations.
Picking, Packing & Dispatch
Accurately pick customer and production orders. Pack products according to company standards. Prepare shipments with the correct labels and documentation. Load and dispatch goods safely and efficiently.
Equipment Operation
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and warehouse equipment (where licensed). Conduct daily equipment inspections. Report equipment faults immediately. Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe operating condition.
Safety, Quality & Housekeeping
Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements. Always Wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain high housekeeping standards (5S). Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with Production, Planning, Procurement and Logistics. Escalate stock discrepancies or operational issues promptly. Support warehouse projects and additional operational requirements when required.
Desired Experience & Qualification Qualifications
Essential
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Advantageous
SYSPRO Certificate in Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain or Logistics. Valid Forklift Licence. Basic First Aid or SHE training.
Experience
The successful candidate will have:
Minimum 2 years' warehouse experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical, chemical or industrial environment. Experience in receiving, inventory control, picking, packing and dispatch. Experience operating warehouse equipment. Exposure to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP systems will be advantageous.
