#TheRecruitmentGuy is recruiting experienced NEXT-GENERATION COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP FOREMANS | SUPERVISORS | LEADS | TECHNICAL LEADERS for established workshop operations in the region of Midvaal (Johannesburg).
Due to an on-going, expansion and growth requirement, these new employment opportunities are for candidates at different stages of their workshop leadership journey.
A strong Trade Tested Diesel Technician / Senior Technician / Leading Hand who has demonstrated leadership capability and is ready to step into a formal supervisory position. Or a Workshop Supervisor / Foreman / Technical Supervisor with proven commercial-vehicle workshop leadership experience. Or an experienced commercial-truck Workshop Foreman who understands dealership/service-centre operations and can immediately take responsibility for workshop performance. Or a highly experienced commercial-truck technical leader whose depth of knowledge, diagnostic ability and leadership experience could bring significant value to the operation. Duties & Responsibilities WORKSHOP LEADERSHIP
Lead and supervise technicians, mechanics, apprentices and workshop personnel. Allocate jobs according to technician capability, workload and priority. Monitor workshop productivity, workflow and turnaround times. Coordinate daily workshop activities to maximise efficiency. Support Service Advisors, Parts and management to ensure a smooth customer journey. Monitor technician performance, attendance, productivity and workmanship.
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
Provide competent technical assistance, guidance and troubleshooting. Assist technicians with complex mechanical, electrical and diagnostic faults. Review repair methods and ensure work is completed correctly the first time. Conduct quality-control inspections before vehicles are released. Maintain high technical and manufacturer/OEM standards. Identify repeat failures and assist with root-cause analysis.
DIAGNOSTICS & TECHNOLOGY
Utilise manufacturer diagnostic equipment and electronic diagnostic systems. Interpret fault codes and diagnostic information. Assist with advanced fault-finding across modern commercial vehicles. Ensure technicians correctly utilise diagnostic equipment and technical information. Maintain accurate diagnostic and repair records.
WORKSHOP SYSTEMS & ADMINISTRATION
Ensure accurate job cards, labour times and technician timekeeping. Monitor workshop management systems and job progress. Ensure warranty documentation is completed accurately. Monitor parts usage and communicate with Parts where required. Maintain accurate workshop records and documentation. Work within applicable OEM, company, health & safety and environmental standards.
PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT
Mentor and develop technicians and apprentices. Transfer technical knowledge and practical experience to the workshop team. Identify skills gaps and training requirements. Encourage accountability, workmanship and continuous improvement. Lead by example.
CUSTOMER & SERVICE DELIVERY
Assist with technically complex customer queries. Support Service Advisors in resolving technical issues. Provide clear technical explanations where required. Help ensure customer vehicles are repaired correctly, efficiently and professionally.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualified / Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic. Proven experience within the Commercial Vehicle / Truck industry. Commercial truck, HCV, ECV or heavy commercial vehicle workshop experience. Workshop supervisory, leadership or proven technical leadership experience. Strong mechanical and diagnostic fault-finding ability. Experience working with modern diagnostic equipment and electronic vehicle systems. Dealership, authorised workshop, fleet workshop or commercial service-centre experience advantageous. Ability to lead, mentor and develop workshop personnel. Strong understanding of workshop workflow, productivity and quality control. Good administrative and organisational ability. Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines. Valid Code 14 licence highly advantageous / required depending on position. Traceable and contactable employment references. Local residency or willingness to relocate where applicable.
