Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) Maintenance Engineer

Introduction We are seeking an experienced Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) Maintenance Engineer to join our Clients construction project.

The successful candidate will lead all maintenance activities for the surface heavy earthmoving fleet, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, legal compliance, and operational availability. The role includes maintenance planning, reliability engineering, asset management, contractor coordination, budget control, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), TMM Mandatory Code of Practice (MCOP), and Road & Rail Safety MCOP.

Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements

BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. GCC (Mines & Works) – Mandatory. Legal appointment under MHSA Regulation 2.13.3.1. 5–8 years' engineering and maintenance experience in an open-cast mining environment. Minimum 3 years managing heavy Trackless Mobile Machinery (Yellow Fleet). ECSA Professional Registration will be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with MHSA, TMM MCOP, and Road & Rail Safety MCOP. Manage planned maintenance, breakdowns, overhauls, and reliability of the TMM fleet. Lead incident investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). Drive predictive and preventive maintenance programmes. Manage maintenance budgets, critical spares, and contractor performance. Lead and develop mechanical teams, artisans, and contractors. Improve fleet availability, reliability, and maintenance performance.

Technical Expertise

Heavy earthmoving equipment (CAT, Komatsu, Bell, FAW, LiuGong or similar). Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems. Predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, MTBF/MTTR, and RCM. Asset management and continuous improvement practices.
