Introduction A leading organisation within the science and technology sector is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator on a six-month contract.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, support and security of the organisation's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks and Microsoft technologies. The role also entails providing day-to-day technical support to end users, ensuring the reliability, availability and optimal performance of all IT systems and services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Administer, maintain and support Windows and Linux virtual server environments. Manage and maintain VMware virtual infrastructure. Administer Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and File Services. Configure, administer and support Microsoft 365, Outlook, OneDrive, Azure, Intune, Dynamics 365, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint (On-Premises and Online). Configure and manage Fortinet FortiGate Firewalls, including VPNs, firewall policies and network security. Administer Veeam Backup & Replication and support disaster recovery, backup and recovery solutions. Manage Microsoft Certificate Services (AD CS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate templates, Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) and Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP). Develop and support automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate (Power Flow). Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, server, network and printer-related issues. Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure to ensure system availability, performance and security. Implement measures to detect and prevent computer viruses and unauthorised network intrusion. Provide day-to-day technical support to internal users. Liaise with vendors to ensure IT services and solutions meet organisational requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification Desired Experience
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in organisational server administration with computer and network troubleshooting. Extensive experience in an IT support environment. Hands-on experience administering Windows and Linux servers, VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and File Services. Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Outlook, OneDrive, Dynamics 365, Teams and SharePoint. Experience configuring and managing Fortinet FortiGate Firewalls, VPNs and network security. Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication. Knowledge and implementation experience in disaster recovery, backup and recovery solutions. Experience with Microsoft Certificate Services (AD CS), PKI, CRLs, OCSP and certificate management. Experience developing and supporting Microsoft Power Automate workflows. Sound understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and VLANs. Good understanding of security architecture, cybersecurity frameworks and IT security tools. Experience managing vendor relationships. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (NQF Level 7) or a related field.
Essential Certifications
Microsoft Certified Windows Server. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). VMware Certified Professional (VCP). Fortinet NSE/FCP. Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent.
Advantageous Certifications
ITIL Foundation. COBIT Foundation. CompTIA Network+. CompTIA A+. CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
