Introduction We are seeking a high-calibre Technical Platform Product Owner to drive the evolution of one of our clients' core digital platform, enterprise data services, and architectural foundations. This role focuses on building and scaling robust platform capabilities—spanning APIs, real-time data streaming, Master Data Management (MDM), and digital contracting—that serve as the underlying operating system for our fintech ecosystem.
You will sit at the intersection of product strategy, core engineering, and system architecture. Rather than building end-user features, you will own the horizontal platform layers that enable multiple product squads to build, scale, and deliver secure financial services efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities 1. Core Platform & API-First Architecture
API Ecosystem & Gateway: Own the full lifecycle of our platform APIs, service meshes, and developer gateways, ensuring high performance, fault tolerance, secure authentication, and clean contract design across distributed services. Platform Abstraction & Extensibility: Design and scale foundational platform services that abstract complex core banking and financial logic, providing clean, reliable building blocks for product developers. Digital Contracts & Digitisation: Lead the technical product roadmap for the digitisation of complex legal and financial workflows, implementing secure digital contracting engines, electronic signatures, and automated compliance verification logic.
2. Data Streaming, Delivery & Master Data Management (MDM)
Real-Time Data Streaming: Partner with data and platform engineering squads to architect low-latency event-driven data streaming and delivery mechanisms (e.g., Kafka/event buses), ensuring real-time state synchronization across services. Master Data Management (MDM): Establish and govern the platform’s single source of truth for critical entity data (customer profiles, account structures, financial instruments) to maintain ironclad data integrity, auditability, and regulatory compliance. Platform Telemetry & Governance: Collaborate with engineering teams to build robust data delivery pipes and telemetry infrastructure that power downstream analytics, risk engines, and real-time observability.
3. Product Execution & Agile Leadership
Technical Backlog Management: Translate complex architectural requirements, scalability mandates, and security standards into granular, engineering-ready Epics, User Stories, and Technical PRDs. Squad Leadership: Lead a dedicated platform engineering squad in an Agile environment. Work hand-in-hand with Principal Engineers, Platform Architects, and Scrum Masters to groom the technical backlog, manage platform debt, and balance infrastructure scalability with velocity. Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the primary bridge between enterprise architecture, compliance, information security, and product engineering, ensuring the platform roadmap aligns with long-term technical and business strategy.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Tenure: 6–8 years in Product Management or Technical Product Ownership, with a heavy focus on Platform Engineering, Fintech Infrastructure, or Enterprise Data Platforms. Technical Fluency: Deep, hands-on understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), event-driven architectures, data streaming (e.g., Kafka), and cloud-native microservices. Domain Mastery: Proven experience with Master Data Management (MDM), data governance frameworks, and the end-to-end digitisation of contracts or heavily regulated workflows. Platform Thinking: Demonstrated track record of building "products for developers" or foundational platforms that abstract backend complexity and scale horizontally. System-Level Thinker: Ability to design decoupled, resilient platforms from 0 to 1, keeping security, latency, and system availability front-of-mind. Agile Literacy: Expert proficiency in managing technical backlogs, writing rigorous acceptance criteria, and navigating complex cross-team dependencies within Jira and Confluence ecosystems.
