We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Specialist: Tenders & Contracts to manage the end-to-end tender and contract lifecycle within a dynamic mining and heavy earthmoving environment. This role plays a critical part in securing business opportunities, ensuring contractual compliance, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction through effective tender management and contract administration.
Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tender submissions and contract administration for mining, government, parastatal, and private sector clients. The role includes reviewing tender requirements, coordinating inputs from stakeholders, compiling compliant submissions, managing contract agreements, and ensuring successful execution and delivery in line with contractual obligations.
Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Tender Management
Manage the full tender process from receipt to submission and award. Analyse tender requirements and technical specifications. Coordinate inputs from engineering, legal, finance, sales, and operational teams. Prepare and submit accurate, competitive, and compliant tender documents. Develop Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses. Participate in pricing discussions and bid clarification meetings. Track tender progress and ensure contractual commitments are met. Maintain effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders
Contract Development & Management
Draft, review, and update customer contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Support contract negotiations and contractual risk mitigation strategies. Monitor compliance with contractual terms and conditions. Analyse contract profitability and provide recommendations to management. Ensure contracts align with legal, operational, commercial, and SHE requirements. Continuously improve contract frameworks and processes.
Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
B-Tech or Diploma in Engineering, Planning, Contracts Management or a related field. Project Management Certification. Trade Certificate (HEM) will be advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years' experience within a heavy earthmoving, mining, construction, or OEM environment. Proven experience in engineering contracts, tender management, maintenance planning, and project management. Strong understanding of legal contracts and commercial agreements. In-depth knowledge of mining equipment and related applications.
Technical Skills
Advanced MS Excel. Intermediate MS Word. SAP experience. Exposure to SAP Ariba and customer procurement systems advantageous. Sound understanding of tendering, procurement best practices, and service level agreements.
