Senior Financial Manager - CA (SA) - 3 month contract

Introduction Our client, a well-established and highly respected non-profit organisation, is recruiting for an experienced Senior Finance Manager (CA(SA)) to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. The successful candidate must have proven experience managing CDC and USAID donor-funded programmes, together with strong financial leadership and governance experience within the NGO sector.

Duties & Responsibilities Financial Management

Lead the organisation's finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and sound financial controls. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and project accounting. Review management accounts, reconciliations, journals and statutory accounts. Manage payroll, banking, treasury and financial systems. Ensure the accuracy of all financial reporting across multiple projects.

 

Compliance, Audit & Governance

Ensure compliance with SARS legislation and statutory requirements. Oversee annual external audits and donor-specific audits. Develop, review and implement financial policies and internal controls. Ensure compliance with donor funding requirements and organisational governance standards.

 

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Lead, mentor and develop the finance team. Provide financial guidance and support to programme managers and executive leadership. Build and maintain relationships with donors, auditors, government departments and external stakeholders. Present financial information and support strategic decision-making.

 

Systems & Continuous Improvement

Drive improvements to financial systems, reporting processes and internal controls. Oversee financial aspects of payroll, procurement and support functions. Ensure effective financial risk management across the organisation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

CA(SA) registered with SAICA. Honours Degree in Accounting, Business Management or a related field. Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance management role. Proven experience managing CDC and USAID donor-funded programmes is essential. Strong understanding of donor compliance, financial reporting and grant management. Minimum 5 years' payroll management experience. Previous experience within the non-profit sector. Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling. SAP and electronic banking systems experience. Strong knowledge of financial governance, statutory compliance and reporting. Excellent leadership, analytical and stakeholder management skills. Clear criminal record.
