Introduction PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provide second-line support and maintenance to end users. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and peripheral equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, by e-mail or via remote desktop) in a timely and accurate manner and provide end-user assistance where required.
Leading with the setup of PC and performing asset control.
Duties & Responsibilities Desktop Support:
Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or e-mails regarding desktop problems Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to computers, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, hard drives, RAM, CD-ROMs, and so on Collaborate with the Service Desk, BackOffice and Applications teams to ensure efficient operation of the desktop computing environment Administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software and hardware products Administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation applications and software products Perform moves, adds, and change service requests as they are logged or as part of Desktop projects Ensure that physical desktop connections (i.e., RJ-45 Ethernet jacks, RJ-11 telephone jacks, 3G modems) are in proper working order Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding standard operating procedures for configuring the desktop environment Assist in identifying and acquiring all desktop components (tools, RAM Hard Drives etc.) Accurately document all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards and other components and equipment when obtaining them from the line manager Accurately document all equipment moves to and from end users Update service requests in CMDBuild accurately and timeously If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors (e.g., Dell and Microsoft) Perform PC Asset Management Lead PC roll-out project with Window 11 Responsible for managing CMDBuild functionalities ERP support

Maintain Client Satisfaction through the Delivery of Quality Desktop Support by meeting SLA targets Ensure on time delivery as per project requirements i.e., computer rollouts.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12 IT Technical Support (NQF level 4) Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification will be ideal. 2 years Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience 5 years Extensive Microsoft software support experience 5 years Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
Knowledge Requirements:
Excellent technical knowledge of PC internal components, including CPU types, RAID systems, Bus Channels etc Good knowledge of Windows and office environments Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features and integration capabilities Asset control Experience in PC Roll-out projects
