Introduction An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Data Engineer to join a major banking transformation programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for industrialising analytical solutions by designing and building production-grade data pipelines that support enterprise reporting, analytics and operational decision-making.
This role is suited to someone who understands both core banking data and modern data engineering practices.
The role is based in Sandton and a 6 to 12 months contract
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable data pipelines. Productionise analytical solutions developed by Data Analysts. Build robust ETL/ELT processes. Develop and optimise enterprise data models. Integrate multiple banking source systems into centralised data platforms. Improve data quality, reliability and performance. Implement automated monitoring and data validation. Collaborate with architects, analysts and business stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualification
6+ years Data Engineering experience. Strong SQL development skills. Experience building enterprise-scale data pipelines. Strong ETL/ELT development experience. Experience working with structured and unstructured data. Performance optimisation and pipeline tuning experience. Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
Mandatory Banking Experience
Applicants must have recent Core Banking or Financial Services experience, including working with banking transactional data, customer information, accounts, payments, lending or related banking domains.
