Senior Data Analyst (12-Month Contract)

Introduction We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join a leading banking institution based in Sandton on a 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will transform complex data into actionable insights while contributing to data architecture, system design, reporting, and AI-driven initiatives.

We are seeking a self-motivated and technically versatile Data Analyst who is comfortable engaging with both business stakeholders and technical teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical thinking, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality outputs independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

Required Skills & Experience

•             Minimum 8 years of experience in Data Analytics, Software Development, Data Engineering, or Systems Architecture.

•             Strong SQL development and data querying expertise.

•             Proficiency in Python and/or R.

•             Extensive experience working with:

o             IBM DB2

o             Oracle

o             Netezza (NZ)

o             Microsoft SQL Server

•             Strong understanding of:

o             Data Modelling

o             ETL Processes

o             Data Warehousing

o             Systems Architecture and Design Principles

•             Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

•             Understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts, including data readiness and model lifecycle management.

•             Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

•             Advanced MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, advanced formulas, and macros.

•             Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Power BI.

•             Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

•             Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector. Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar Business Intelligence tools. Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, or Advanced Analytics projects.
