Project Planner - Primavera P6 (2-Month Contract)

Introduction Our client, operating within the mining and engineering sector, is looking for an experienced Project Planner with advanced Primavera P6 expertise to join a project team on a two-month contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, maintaining and monitoring project schedules for industrial construction and conveyor system projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6. Establish project baselines, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), milestones and schedule logic. Develop critical path schedules and monitor project progress. Coordinate schedule updates with engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and site teams. Produce weekly, monthly and look-ahead programmes. Identify schedule risks, delays and critical path impacts. Support recovery planning and schedule acceleration initiatives. Prepare project progress reports and dashboards. Monitor supplier, subcontractor and construction deliverables. Attend planning and progress meetings and maintain accurate schedule records.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Relevant qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6 (essential). Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Project Planner or Project Controls Planner. Proven experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules. Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), WBS and project sequencing. Experience within mining, EPC/EPCM, conveyor systems, materials handling, SMPP, mechanical construction or fabrication projects will be highly advantageous. Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

 

Advantageous Experience

Conveyor installation or bulk materials handling projects. Structural steel fabrication and SMPP projects. Resource loading, cost loading, earned value reporting and schedule risk analysis. Experience working on mining or industrial construction sites.

Package & Remuneration R40 000 - R45 000
