Project Interface Lead - Durban (Indiza) 2Years contract

Introduction The Project Interface Lead will be responsible for filling a critical gap between construction execution and live operational functions. Operating in a complex brownfield or terminal environment, tasked with overseeing the project's most critical high-risk phase, the incumbent will direct essential pre-construction tasks and lead front-end interface management to ensure site readiness. Within our EPC contract framework, the Project Interface Lead will serve as the essential bridge connecting construction managers, EPC partners, and live terminal operations and ensure that execution moves forward seamlessly while uncompromisingly protecting the safety, integrity, and steady-state flow of our operational assets.

Duties & Responsibilities Site Readiness & Pre-Construction: Take ownership of the high-risk phase preceding main construction, ensuring flawless site readiness and interface alignment before the EPC contract execution ramps up. ● EPC-to-Operations Bridging: Act as the primary liaison between EPC contractors, construction managers, and life operations to streamline communication and prevent operational disruptions. ● Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS): Actively coordinate and manage SIMOPS protocols between construction crews and plant operations to mitigate risks associated with working in a live process environment. ● Tie-in & Shutdown Coordination: Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and execution of physical tie-ins, hot taps, and brownfield modifications during scheduled plant shutdowns or turnarounds. Work closely with the Operations Coordinator for seamless interface management between the project and operations. ● Permit to Work (PTW) Liaison: Act as the primary interface between the contractor and the plant operations team to facilitate, review, and secure necessary Permits to Work, Isolation Certificates, and Hot Work permits. Work with the project Safety Officer for construction planning and scheduling permits for upcoming periods. ● Asset Protection: Ensure contractors strictly adhere to site-specific operational constraints, boundary isolations, and hazardous area classifications (e.g., ATEX/Ex zones) to safeguard existing assets. Project Schedule Management ● Progress Verification: Physically verify on-site progress against the approved project baseline schedule (e.g., Look-Ahead schedules, Primavera P6, or MS Project updates) to ensure accurate reporting. ● Milestone Tracking: Monitor contractor resource mobilization, material deliveries, and daily productivity rates to ensure critical path milestones are met. ● Delay Mitigation: Proactively identify potential schedule slippages, bottlenecks, or contractor resource constraints, and collaborate with project controls to develop recovery plans. ● Interface Coordination: Coordinate sequencing and handovers between different disciplines and subcontractors to minimize standby time and optimize field productivity. Field Supervision & Compliance ● Documentation Adherence: Ensure all field activities strictly comply with "Approved for Construction" (AFC) documentation, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. ● Management of Change (MOC): Provide active support on MOC processes, evaluating any potential impacts that modifications may have on both quality and the project schedule. Quality Assurance & Inspections ● ITP Attendance: Attend and witness quality checks performed by contractors and subcontractors as dictated by the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), ensuring inspections do not become a bottleneck for progress. ● Quality Framework: Ensure that at the start of the project, quality procedures are established and seamlessly incorporated into the Basis of Design (BoD) and contractor contracts. ● Lifecycle Audits: Work closely with the Project Quality Managers to assist with inspections and audits to ensure quality procedures are correctly applied across all project phases: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning. ● Testing & Tracking: Meticulously track all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), repairs, and subsequent retesting in accordance with the approved project quality plan. HSE & Deviation Management ● Surveillance Reporting: Immediately issue formal surveillance reports upon detecting any deviations from established quality or safety standards. ● Site Safety: Actively monitor contractor compliance with site-specific safety regulations to foster a zero-incident environment.

Desired Experience & Qualification Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Construction Management, or a related technical field. ● Experience: Senior-level experience (Minimum of 5 years in field construction supervision, project coordination, or QA/QC roles, with a proven track record handling heavy brownfield operations and complex construction-to-operations interfaces). ● Software/Tools: Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and the ability to interpret Gantt charts and critical path methodologies. ● Certifications (Preferred): PMP/CAPM, AWS/CSWIP (welding), NACE (coating), or recognized OSHA/HSE certifications.
