Duties & Responsibilities Our client in the petrochemical industry is seeking a Preferential Procurement Specialist to join their team on a 1 year fixed term contract.
Purpose:
The Preferential Procurement Specialist will support development, implementation and management of the organization’s preferential procurement strategy in alignment with the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act, industry charters, and company Transformation objectives. The role’s primary intent is to drive inclusive economic participation by increasing the organization’s spend with B-BBEE companies and EMEs/QSEs (Exempted Micro Enterprises/Qualifying Small Enterprises).
The role plays a pivotal part in ensuring procurement activities are not only cost-effective and compliant but also socially responsible and transformational. You will act as a key liaison between suppliers and Procurement, Transformation, Legal and Finance departments to ensure all sourcing activities adhere to relevant compliance requirements while promoting supplier development and economic inclusion in line with national and sector-specific legislation.
Desired Experience & Qualification Qualification required:
Bachelor’s degree or Supply Chain Management degree Preferably a Postgraduate Diploma in B-BBEE Management, Compliance, or Procurement.
Experience required:
Minimum 5–8 years of procurement or supply chain experience, with at least 3 years in preferential procurement or transformation roles. Experience in the petrochemical sector or heavy industrial sector is advantageous. Demonstrable understanding of the B-BBEE Act, Codes of Good Practice, Liquid Fuels Charter, and other transformation frameworks. Experience working with internal/external audits, verification agencies, and regulators.
