Duties & Responsibilities Interim Payroll Manager (6-Month FTC) | Johannesburg
A leading multi-site organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to take full ownership of payroll operations for a large, complex workforce.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can hit the ground running and manage payroll independently from day one.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end payroll processing for ±1,000 employees across multiple entities Manage full payroll cycle including inputs, reconciliations, and reporting Handle statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5) Ensure full compliance with South African payroll legislation Administer payroll systems, employee records, and reporting Manage onboarding, terminations, and payroll-related queries Support audits and maintain accurate payroll documentation
Minimum Requirements
Sage 300 People experience (non-negotiable) Proven experience managing payroll for 500+ employees Strong knowledge of SA payroll legislation and statutory submissions Experience in retail or multi-site environments Relevant qualification in Payroll / Finance (or SAPA certification) Advanced Excel skills
