Overview
An established enterprise environment is seeking an experienced Monitoring Engineer to join its Infrastructure Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, administration, optimisation, and continuous improvement of enterprise monitoring platforms across network, server, application, and infrastructure environments.
This role requires a technically strong individual with extensive experience in ManageEngine technologies, proactive monitoring practices, automation, reporting, and incident management. The position plays a critical role in ensuring system availability, improving operational visibility, and reducing service disruptions through effective event management and monitoring strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Administer and optimise the enterprise monitoring environment. Configure and maintain monitoring policies, alerts and thresholds. Ensure effective incident and event management processes. Develop automation scripts and monitoring enhancements. Produce operational, SLA and capacity planning reports. Monitor network, server and application performance. Perform disaster recovery monitoring and failover visibility testing. Integrate monitoring tools with third-party platforms and APIs. Maintain accurate documentation and change records. Recommend and implement improvements to monitoring processes and technologies. Provide support and knowledge transfer to junior team members.

Essential Qualifications
Grade 12 / Matric ManageEngine Certified Professional (OpManager and/or Applications Manager) or equivalent practical experience ITIL v4 Certification with strong exposure to Incident and Event Management
Advantageous Certifications
Microsoft fundamentals VMware fundamentals Linux fundamentals Exposure to cloud monitoring technologies, particularly Azure Monitor
Experience Required
Proven experience administering large-scale enterprise monitoring environments comprising 900+ nodes Experience migrating monitoring platforms from legacy tools to ManageEngine solutions Strong understanding of infrastructure, systems and application monitoring Experience with disaster recovery visibility and failover testing Demonstrated success in improving monitoring accuracy and reducing alert noise Key Technical Skills: Enterprise Monitoring Administration Advanced configuration and administration of ManageEngine OpManager Configuration of SNMP, WMI, traps, thresholds and custom sensors Applications Manager deployment and transaction monitoring Management of distributed monitoring environments including probes and pollers Performance and availability monitoring across servers, networks and applications Alert Management and Event Correlation Design and implementation of escalation policies Integration with email, SMS and ticketing systems Event correlation and alert deduplication Reduction of false positives through dynamic thresholds and baselining techniques Automation and Integration Development of automation scripts using Python and/or PowerShell Automated remediation activities such as service restarts and disk cleanup REST API integration and orchestration Development of custom dashboards and monitoring enhancements Reporting and Analytics Production of SLA and KPI reporting for management Integration with Power BI and Grafana Capacity planning and trend analysis CPU, memory, storage and utilisation forecasting Monitoring performance analysis and optimisation Infrastructure Monitoring
Experience monitoring: Network environments (SNMP, NetFlow) Windows and Linux servers Applications and transaction tracing Hybrid and cloud environments Disaster recovery and failover monitoring Continuous Improvement Evaluate and perform proof-of-concepts for new monitoring solutions Identify automation opportunities and recommend improvements Maintain monitoring standards and best practices Ensure monitoring configurations and documentation remain audit-ready
Package & Remuneration R25,000.00 - R35,000.00 CTC per month, depending on qualifications and experience
