Mining Supervisor - Northern Cape- Available Immediately- Contract

Introduction

Core Business: Bulk cargo handling, marine logistics, and rail-to-port integration.

Parent Organization: Solethu Group (founded in 2004 with roots in the rail and transport sectors).

Key Operations: Managing industrial sidings, transport infrastructure, and mineral exports in major South African port and mining corridors

Duties & Responsibilities

Operations Oversight: Direct daily marine, civil, or bulk handling operations (such as train loading/offloading for iron ore or manganese).

Team Management: Supervise on-site crews, subordinate supervisors, and contractors.

Resource Planning: Coordinate plant, equipment, and material allocation to meet daily performance targets.

Safety & Compliance: Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) rules, conduct site inspections, and run safety briefings.

Progress Reporting: Monitor workflow productivity and submit periodic work completion reports

 

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements

Education: Grade 12 / N3 certificate; a tertiary diploma or degree in mining engineering or related field is an advantage. [ Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in an operational mining environment (often moving up from a senior operator, miner, or leading hand role Certificates: Valid Blasting Certificate, relevant legal liability training, and a Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket) where applicable.  Skills: Basic computer literacy (MS Office), strong communication skills, and basic understanding of mining legislation.     

Desired Experience & Qualification Core Requirements

Experience: 3 to 5+ years in a supervisory or management role within maritime logistics, bulk handling, or marine construction.

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with port environments, heavy transport, or rail siding operations.

Safety Certifications: Relevant health and safety or marine safety tickets/certificates.

Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and asset/crew coordination capabilities
