Introduction A leading arboriculture and vegetation management company in Ireland is seeking experienced Machine Operators from South Africa to operate heavy plant equipment for tree felling, timber processing, and biomass transport. This is a contract role reporting to the Tree Surgery Director. You will operate 16T tracked/rail mounted excavators with grapple saws, 16T chippers, and 3T excavators with rotating grapples. Accommodation available, plus full PPE. The client covers all associated costs – including work permit, visa, and travel for the successful candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities
Mobilise & demobilise plant and machinery to and from site Carry out tree felling operations using machinery Transport timber & woodchip (biomass) to designated locations (e.g. power plant) Perform groundwork activities including timber processing Set up machinery for operation; maintain machinery & equipment Start machinery and make adjustments to improve performance Follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures; report problems to supervisor Comply with all safety and health regulations Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area

Safe and efficient operation of machinery with no avoidable damage Timely mobilisation/demobilisation and transport of plant Consistent quality of timber processing and biomass delivery Adherence to safety policies and maintenance schedules Punctuality, reliability, and clear communication with crew leader and team
Desired Experience & Qualification
CSCS Machine Operation certification (360 excavator, teleporter) – or equivalent recognised qualification Full clean driving licence HGV licence C or higher (distinct advantage) Proven experience operating heavy plant, ideally in arboriculture, forestry, or similar environment Ability to transport plant using truck/HGV Good level of English (written and oral) Willingness to work shifts (daytime & nighttime) across regional Ireland Valid passport and ability to relocate (company assists with work permit eligibility)
