Introduction We are seeking an experienced Lodge Manager to take full responsibility for the operational management of a private, non-commercial lodge in a remote bush environment.
This hands-on role requires a dynamic, service-driven hospitality professional who thrives in a small, remote team and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences. Couples applications are welcome.
Duties & Responsibilities Lodge Operations & Leadership
Oversee full lodge operations to ensure consistent guest satisfaction Lead, train, and motivate the lodge team Plan and manage day-to-day operations efficiently Implement and manage policies, procedures, and administrative controls Attend management meetings and submit required reports
Guest Experience & Relations
Manage pre-arrival communication, transfers, and excursions Welcome guests and manage check-in/check-out procedures Conduct lodge orientation and collect guest feedback Coordinate daily activities, game drives, and excursions Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally
Kitchen & Culinary Management
Plan menus according to guest dietary requirements Source ingredients and beverages Prepare, cook, and present all meals Maintain food safety, hygiene, and stock rotation standards Manage stock takes and inventory control
Operations Oversight
Ensure rooms and public areas meet cleanliness standards Assign rooms and coordinate guest movements Oversee dining and bar setup, service, and post-service cleaning
Maintenance & Safety
Manage annual maintenance plans and liaise with contractors Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and emergency procedures Take control during emergencies and ensure lodge security
Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements
Formal Hospitality Degree/Diploma (preferred) 4–5 years’ lodge management experience in a 4–5 star environment Proven experience across all lodge departments Grade 12 (Matric) Computer literate Valid Driver’s License with PDP (essential) Strong employment history with contactable references Qualified chef or strong cooking ability (essential)
