Introduction Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior HSSEQ Officer to join their team. This role is ideal for a passionate safety professional looking to kickstart or grow their career in Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) management. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring compliance with company standards, legal requirements, and client expectations, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities Compliance and Reporting:
Assist in maintaining the Company’s HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality) Management System. Conduct daily and monthly inspections at the office and yard to ensure compliance. Support internal audits and help prepare documentation for ISO and client audits. Compile basic monthly reports and KPI data.
Risk and Incident Management:
Assist in risk assessments (e.g., baseline, project, and route assessments). Support in investigating incidents, nonconformities, and near misses. Participate in developing corrective and preventive actions under supervision.
Training and Communication:
Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to employees. Help maintain the company’s training and PPE matrix. Conduct inductions for visitors and new employees.
Emergency Preparedness and General Safety:
Assist in compiling and conducting emergency drills and action plans. Ensure safety signage and emergency equipment are in place and maintained. Support the PPE management process (ordering, issuing, and record-keeping)
Qualifications and Certifications Required
SAMTRAC or equivalent (Safety Management Training Course) HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) certification Incident Investigation training (basic knowledge or exposure preferred) Advanced Fire Fighting certification First Aid Level 2 or 3 certification Working at Heights certification Confined Space Entry training Environmental Management (basic understanding or relevant certification) Knowledge of Legal Liability principles (basic training or exposure)
Desired Skills and Experience
1–3 years of experience in a similar role. Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn. Basic understanding of HSSEQ principles and management systems
