Introduction A reputable railway and civil engineering contractor is seeking a Junior Contracts Manager to join their dynamic team on a large-scale underground rail project. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career growth within a fast-paced infrastructure environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
The position is based in Zambia and requires working on a rotational basis (typically 12 weeks on duty followed by 3 weeks leave, or a similar arrangement) Assist with the administration and management of contracts throughout the project lifecycle Support senior management with project coordination, planning, and reporting Monitor project costs, timelines, and deliverables Ensure compliance with contractual terms and company procedures Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers Prepare, review, and manage contract documentation and variations Work on-site within a mining environment, including regular underground activities in confined spaces and varying conditions, in strict adherence to health and safety regulations
Desired Experience & Qualification
Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field 1–3 years’ experience in construction or civil engineering (advantageous) Basic understanding of contract management principles (FIDIC/NEC preferred) Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) Good communication and organizational abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Medically fit to work in an underground mining environment and comfortable working in confined spaces
