Introduction The IVMS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the IVMS Control Room function, ensuring continuous fleet monitoring, compliance, and performance management across our clients operation. The role provides leadership to IVMS Controllers, ensures adherence to policies and SLAs, and supports risk mitigation, driver behaviour management, and operational efficiency within a 24/7 logistics environment.
Duties & Responsibilities IVMS Operations & Supervision
Supervise and coordinate the IVMS Control Room function across all shifts. Ensure continuous real-time monitoring of the fleet using IVMS platforms (Cartrack, MiX Telematics, Netstar, Tracker, etc.). Oversee escalation of high-risk incidents, alarms, and violations in line with Wardens procedures. Ensure proper shift handovers, coverage, and operational continuity.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
Lead, coach, and support IVMS Controllers to ensure high performance and compliance. Review driver behaviour reports, scorecards, and trends. Identify training needs and support corrective action plans for controllers and drivers. Manage attendance, discipline support, and performance feedback within the IVMS team.
Driver Behaviour & Compliance Oversight
Oversee driver behaviour management processes and ensure consistency in enforcement. Ensure IVMS data is accurately used to support disciplinary hearings and investigations. Liaise with operations, HR, and management regarding recurring risks and non-compliance.
Incident & Risk Management
Manage and coordinate response to accidents, breakdowns, hijackings, theft, and emergencies. Ensure incidents are logged, investigated, and reported accurately. Provide management with incident summaries and risk mitigation recommendations.
Reporting & Governance
Review and sign off on daily, weekly, and monthly IVMS and compliance reports. Ensure reporting accuracy and alignment with Wardens Cartage standards and client SLAs. Support internal audits, insurance claims, and external client reporting.
Operational & Stakeholder Support
Act as the primary IVMS point of contact for operations, fleet, and management. Support route compliance, vehicle utilisation, and operational planning. Assist with after-hours operational decision-making when required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric (Grade 12) – essential Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in IVMS / fleet control / logistics control Minimum 2–3 years’ supervisory or team-lead experience Proven experience within a high-volume logistics or transport environment Advanced experience using IVMS platforms (Cartrack, MiX Telematics, Netstar, Tracker) Strong computer literacy (MS Excel, reporting and dashboard tools) Willingness to work rotational shifts
Employment and Shift Structure EMPLOYMENT STRUCTURE
The role is permanent in nature. During the first 12 months, employment will be managed through recurring 3-month fixed-term contracts, subject to performance and operational requirements. Upon successful completion of the first year, the role will convert to a standard permanent contract, in line with company policy.
SHIFT STRUCTURE
This is a shift-based position, operating on the following rotation:
2 Days – Day Shift 2 Days – Night Shift 2 Days – Off
The IVMS Supervisor must be willing to work day and night shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and provide support across shifts when required.
