Introduction An established public sector organisation is seeking to appoint an experienced and strategic Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a six-month fixed-term contract. This executive leadership role offers an opportunity to lead the organisation's digital transformation agenda, strengthen ICT governance, and ensure technology enables the delivery of strategic objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing strategic leadership for the organisation's ICT and digital transformation functions. Developing and implementing ICT strategies aligned with organisational goals. Leading enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives and innovation. Overseeing ICT governance, cybersecurity, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Managing enterprise systems, infrastructure, information management, and digital platforms. Driving data analytics and digital enablement initiatives. Managing ICT budgets, vendors, and technology investments. Building strong relationships with executive leadership and key stakeholders. Leading organisational change and promoting technology-driven business improvement. Ensuring business continuity, operational resilience, and information security.
Desired Experience & Qualification Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Relevant postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree will be advantageous. Professional certifications such as COBIT, ITIL, TOGAF, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent will be advantageous.
Experience
8–10 years' experience in ICT leadership, digital transformation, or enterprise technology management. At least 3–5 years' experience at senior management level. Proven experience leading ICT strategy and digital transformation programmes. Extensive experience in ICT governance, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and risk management. Experience managing enterprise applications, ICT infrastructure, and information management environments. Public sector or highly regulated industry experience will be advantageous.
