Duties & Responsibilities An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Manager to take ownership of the financial management function for a division within a dynamic organisation. This role is responsible for leading a finance team, safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and ensuring reliable, IFRS-compliant financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end management, budgeting and forecasting, statutory compliance, and strategic financial support to the business.This role is based in Edenvale and it is a f.xed term contract role.Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, motivate and develop the finance team by setting clear goals, providing direction, and fostering a high-performance culture. Coach, mentor and empower team members to achieve both individual and departmental objectives.
Month-End & General Ledger Management:
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including the review and approval of journals and the creation of new accounts, where required. Manage and control the month-end close process, ensuring that all deadlines are achieved and accounts are accurately finalised.
Balance Sheets & Reconciliations:
Review and approve monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations. Ensure that reconciliations are fully supported with appropriate documentation and that outstanding items are investigated and resolved timeously.
Financial Reporting:
Ensure that all financial reporting requirements and submission deadlines are met. Review, analyse and provide insightful commentary on monthly management accounts. Validate the accuracy and completeness of reports prepared by the finance team, ensuring that all submissions reconcile to Hyperion. Prepare and submit head office reporting, including Hyperion packs and supporting notes.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the preparation of annual budgets in line with business objectives. Update and manage forecasts as required to support forward planning and decision-making.
Banking & Payments:
Review and approve debtor and creditor application documentation. Approve creditor reconciliations, ad hoc payments, beneficiaries and payment runs in line with governance controls.
Compliance, Audit & Controls:
Oversee tax and VAT reviews to ensure legislative compliance. Take responsibility for internal and external audits and the preparation of annual financial statements. Review income completeness and ensure accurate financial recognition. Perform annual system rollovers and support teams in resolving sub-ledger and general ledger variances. Regularly assess financial systems, processes and internal controls, recommending and implementing improvements where required.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
BCom degree or equivalent (essential). Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in a financial management or supervisory role. Agile, adaptable and solutions-oriented approach. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel. Experience with Great Plains and Hyperion systems (advantageous).
