Financial Accountant (6 Months Fixed Term)

Introduction Our esteemed client is seeking a Financial Accountant based in Pietermaritzburg, available to start immediately.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional experienced in financial reporting, reconciliations, journals, inventory, and financial analysis, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Managing the accounting cycle for different entries. Preparing bank and general ledger reconciliations, accruals, provisions, depreciation and intercompany entries. Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting quarterly board submissions and annual financial statements. Preparing and processing monthly freight and logistics journals and accruals. Reconciling freight and logistics accounts and investigating discrepancies. Analysing freight costs against budget and prior periods. Supporting monthly inventory valuation, inventory journals and reconciliations. Supporting the bi-annual stock count and related reconciliations. Preparing supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting and audit requirements. Ensuring journals and reconciliations are completed accurately and within the required financial close timelines.

Desired Experience & Qualification

BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification. 1 to 3 years’ financial accounting experience. Experience working with financial statements. Sound understanding of accounting principles and IFRS. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork skills. Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment Working knowledge of Oracle, would be advantageous.
