Introduction We are seeking a highly experienced ESG Programme Manager to lead and deliver complex, enterprise-wide Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives within a financial services environment.
This role requires a strategic operator who can translate ESG frameworks into executable programmes, drive cross-functional delivery, and ensure alignment with regulatory, risk, and sustainability objectives.
You will be accountable for end-to-end programme delivery across multiple workstreams, engaging senior stakeholders and ensuring measurable ESG outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities Programme Delivery & Execution
Lead the delivery of large-scale ESG programmes across business, risk, compliance, data, and technology teams Develop and manage programme roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans Drive execution across multiple ESG workstreams (climate risk, sustainability reporting, governance frameworks, social impact initiatives) Ensure delivery within scope, budget, and timelines
ESG Strategy Implementation
Translate ESG strategy into actionable programmes and initiatives Align ESG initiatives with regulatory frameworks and industry standards Drive integration of ESG principles into business processes and operating models
Stakeholder Management
Engage senior stakeholders including Exco, Risk, Compliance, Sustainability, and Technology teams Facilitate governance forums (SteerCo, Exco updates, programme boards) Manage expectations, escalations, and decision-making processes
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Establish and maintain strong programme governance structures Manage RAID logs, programme risks, and regulatory dependencies Ensure alignment with financial services regulatory requirements and ESG reporting standards
Data, Reporting & Insights
Oversee ESG data initiatives including data collection, validation, and reporting Support implementation of ESG reporting frameworks and disclosures Ensure accurate tracking of programme benefits and ESG metrics
Desired Experience & Qualification Experience
8–12+ years’ experience in programme or project management within financial services Proven experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes Strong exposure to ESG, sustainability, or regulatory programmes Experience working within consulting environments or large banking institutions
ESG & Regulatory Knowledge
Solid understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards such as: TCFD GRI SASB Knowledge of climate risk, sustainability reporting, and governance practices
Technical & Delivery Skills
Strong programme governance and delivery capability Experience managing cross-functional teams (business + tech + risk) Ability to manage complex dependencies and multiple stakeholders Strong reporting and executive communication skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Sustainability, or related field Relevant certifications advantageous (PMP, Prince2, Agile, ESG certifications)
