Introduction We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our clients maintenance team in a fast-paced rubber manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and production equipment to ensure maximum plant reliability, minimise downtime, and maintain the highest safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical equipment and production machinery. Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on rubber processing and manufacturing equipment. Perform preventative and planned maintenance to improve equipment reliability. Maintain and repair motors, pumps, heaters, sensors, relays, contactors, and electrical control panels. Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, VSDs/VFDs, instrumentation, and automated control systems. Service production equipment including mixers, mills, extruders, calenders, presses, conveyors, and curing equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control circuit drawings. Carry out electrical installations, cable routing, cable termination, and panel wiring. Conduct inspections to identify potential electrical hazards and equipment failures. Assist with equipment commissioning, modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring equipment issues. Work collaboratively with mechanical technicians and production teams to minimise plant downtime. Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all electrical safety regulations. Ensure compliance with company policies, electrical standards, and statutory requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification. Registered or authorised Electrician (where required by local regulations). Proven experience in industrial or manufacturing electrical maintenance. Experience within the rubber, plastics, or heavy manufacturing industry will be advantageous. Sound knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, motor control circuits, industrial automation, and fault finding. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Experience with PLCs, VSDs/VFDs, and instrumentation will be advantageous. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of occupational health, safety, and electrical compliance standards. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and plant shutdowns when required.
