A hands-on opportunity for an Electrical Foreman to lead the Durban electrical department, managing electrical projects and equipment maintenance.

About Our Client The client operates within a manufacturing and/or ship repair environment requiring execution of electrical projects and maintenance of equipment.

The Role: Electrical Foreman The Electrical Foreman is responsible and accountable for the execution of all electrical projects and maintenance of equipment to ensure maximum effectiveness and productivity. The role involves the hands-on management of the Durban electrical department, including supervising personnel, planning maintenance, and managing job estimates and budgets.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Supervise electricians, assistants, apprentices, and contractors while leading the electrical department. Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise all electrical maintenance and projects. Estimate the time and materials required for projected electrical jobs. Ensure that all projects are completed within the relevant timeframe and budget. Plan and manage preventative maintenance on all equipment, including cranes, engine rooms, and other operational areas. Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of electrical issues. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Quality Control policies. Travel and work overtime when required by operational needs.

Desired Experience & Qualification

About You

At least twelve years post-apprenticeship experience with approximately 5 years of proven supervisory experience. An Electrician Trade Test and Wireman license. Medium voltage certification and experience. Experience with crane systems and strong maintenance experience within a manufacturing and/or ship repair environment. Ability to perform hands-on physical duties, including climbing a crane and entering an engine room. Computer literacy skills. Good communication and leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact in a service-oriented environment. A qualification in Electrical Engineering is a distinct advantage.
