Introduction Our client, a well-established organisation operating in the aviation sector, is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join their team on a 1-year contract based in Pretoria. This role is ideal for a detail-driven analyst with exceptional Microsoft Excel capabilities, who thrives on turning raw data into clear, actionable insight.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collect, clean, and consolidate data from multiple sources into structured, reliable datasets Build and maintain advanced Excel models, dashboards, and reporting tools Design and automate recurring reports using formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA, and Power Query Analyse trends, patterns, and anomalies to support operational and business decision-making Present findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and version control across reporting processes Collaborate with various departments to understand data needs and improve reporting efficiency Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through smarter Excel-based solutions
Desired Experience & Qualification
Proven, demonstrable advanced Excel skills (essential) — including but not limited to: Advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested IF, array formulas) Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts Power Query / Power Pivot Macros/VBA automation (advantageous) Data validation, conditional formatting, and dashboard design Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Business Analytics, or similar (advantageous) Prior experience in a data analyst, reporting analyst, or similar role Experience working with large, complex datasets Strong communication skills and ability to translate data into business insight Familiarity with additional BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL) advantageous but not essential Aviation, logistics, or related industry experience advantageous but not essential
