Introduction
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the company’s credit risk by ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, relationships. maintaining accurate customer accounts, adhered to while maintaining strong customer and supporting healthy cash flow. and internal stakeholders to ensure credit policies are ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, The role involves liaising with customers, sales teams, releasing orders for CRM timeously
Duties & Responsibilities Credit Management
Assess and review customer credit applications in line with company credit policy Set up and maintain customer credit limits and payment terms Monitor customer accounts to ensure credit limits are not exceeded Recommend changes to credit limits based on payment performance and risk
Debtors Management
Ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices Follow up on overdue accounts via phone calls, emails, and written correspondence Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement plans where necessary Allocate and reconcile customer payments accurately Prepare and distribute customer statements
Reporting & Controls
Prepare and maintain aged debtor reports Report overdue, high-risk, and disputed accounts to management Assist with cash flow forecasting related to debtor collections Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
Dispute Resolution
Investigate and resolve invoice queries and disputes promptly Liaise with sales, logistics, and accounts teams to resolve billing issues Ensure disputes are documented and followed up to resolution
Compliance & Policy Adherence
Ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements relating to credit control Escalate non-compliant or high-risk accounts to management
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers Communicate professionally and diplomatically to protect customer relationships Work closely with sales teams to balance sales growth and credit risk
Desired Experience & Qualification
Accounting 2–5 years’ experience in credit control or accounts receivable Experience working with ERP or accounting systems Strong knowledge of credit control processes and debtor management
