Reference: DUR003509-SA-1Immediate Start | Fixed-Term Contract Our client in the retail sector requires an experienced Business Support Controller to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. This opportunity is ideal for a finance-focused Analyst who enjoys working with large volumes of operational data, identifying trends, and ensuring reporting accuracy in a fast-paced environment.This is a hands-on analytical role where you'll work with financial and operational data, investigate variances and discrepancies, prepare accurate reports, and provide support to retailers by resolving day-to-day queries.This is not simply a reporting role. You will be expected to analyse financial and operational information, identify inconsistencies, investigate unexpected movements in data, and produce accurate reports that support executive decision-making. Duties & Responsibilities The Person:
Business, Finance, Accounting or related tertiary qualification. Proven experience within a retail or FMCG environment. Strong analytical and financial acumen. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas and data analysis). Comfortable working with large data sets and financial reports. Excellent attention to detail with a naturally curious and investigative mindset. Able to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and operational stakeholders. Available to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, anomalies and business risks. Investigate unexpected movements in sales, revenue, expenses and profitability. Prepare accurate financial and business reports for senior management and EXCO. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all reporting before submission. Monitor key business metrics and identify shifts in performance. Assist with retailer and supplier queries and provide operational support where required. Support reconciliations and resolve reporting discrepancies. Work closely with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting. Produce ad hoc reports and analysis as required.
Essential Skills:
Strong financial and commercial understanding. Excellent numerical reasoning. Advanced Excel. Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail. Able to question information rather than simply report it. Strong problem-solving ability. Able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Professional communication skills.
