Introduction PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To design, develop, conduct and assess technical training programs for Learners as per qualification criteria as set out by Souths African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Sector Education Training Authority (SETA) to prepare them for Advance training qualifications, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence (AMEL) and Aircraft Type qualifications.
Duties & Responsibilities Operation Management:
Develop Training programs
Prepare and plan implementation of training courses for learners including classroom and practical training interventions (as and when required) Compile instructor and learner guides for every module Ensure curriculum presented on time and in accordance with the relevant training authority guidelines and accreditation criteria Create, review and update theory and practical questionnaires (if and when required) Design and develop practical training curriculum Provide input to training plans and necessary resources for procurement
Conduct training
Prepare appropriately for learner activities for the day i.e, lesson plans, assessments etc. according to the approved training plan Facilitate training to increase learner knowledge and competence utilising appropriate training methodology and training aids Focus on delivering the best learning outcomes and impacts Conduct discussions with learners to increase knowledge and competence using visual aids such as graphs, charts, videos, slides and practical demonstrations Monitor a Learner’s progress and deliver motivational and development feedback
Conduct physical aircrafts visits (practical demonstration) according to the legal requirements (SACAA where applicable).
Evaluation/Assessments
Conduct learner assessments, theoretical and practical Conduct trade tests both theoretical and practical where relevant (will be an added advantage) Observe and evaluate learner work both theoretical and practical to determine progress to provide feedback and make recommendations for improvements Apply techniques to analyse the impact of training from learners’ experience
Conducts learner assessments according to the legal requirements.
Learner administration
Maintain course files Keep registers up to date by recording learner attendance and training activities Complete and update learner assessment results. Compile and keep course completion reports
Participate in learner disciplinary proceedings (as and when required).
Continuous improvement
Conduct research to keep current to industry standards and best technologies and practices principals Review and update or develop new modules for the curriculum, annually or as required Evaluate and update existing -modules to satisfy the training curriculum criteria Continuously enhance, update and maintain technical instructional delivery and presentation skills Participate in meetings, seminars, training sessions and integrate relevant information into training program Inspect, record, report, update classroom and workshop equipment, inventories and serviceability of equipment. Liaise with management, apprentices, training practitioners, industry partners and clients (defence & civil).
Acts as liaison between learner, parents, companies and sponsors
Audit and Compliance:
Participate in preparation and involvement during internal and external audits and timeously provide auditors with required information to ensure that deadlines are met Ensure full compliance with all accreditations and regulatory requirements Implement agreed remedial measures on completion of audits Perform activities in accordance to all policies and procedures to ensure compliance and minimise financial risk to the business.
Quality & SHE:
Maintain safe and compliant working conditions through housekeeping of work areas Conform to health and safety regulations Ensure learners comply with the SHERQ standards Maintain adherence to Quality standards of all regulatory bodies to support the company to maintain current accreditations and apply for new accreditations Evaluate learner competence and recommend improvements
Human Resource Management:
Participate in the performance management process Identify training needs aligned to DTA strategy plans and develop effectiveness of Personal Development Plan Participate in staff meeting to discuss operational performance and business issues Live the company values and exhibits behaviours to reflect the company culture.
Financial Management:
Plan, control and request capital expenditure items to sustain budgets and costs Utilise resources in a cost-effective manner to reduce and eliminate wastage Manage own productivity effectively (Time keeping) continuously seek opportunities to save costs Continuously seek opportunities to reduce cost without compromising on the delivery of the departmental objectives Manage all assets write to inspections inventory lists and serviceability of equipment and report deviations.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant trade certificate qualification equivalent to NQF 5 8 years post qualification technical experience of which 3 years as a Training Practitioner in a medium to large engineering/technical Company Proven track record of solid technical aptitude and the ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences Function as the subject matter expect for the technical subjects in the respective area of responsibility Experience in designing and presenting complex technical course content effectively Proven track record of successfully interaction with a diverse range of people in terms of race, culture, gender and age.
Registration with Professional Bodies:
South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL) for relevant aircraft trade, AME ratings to present training in trade related SACAA AMEL requirements, Engineering Designated Examiner (EDE) license for those administering trade tests will be an added advantage National Artisan Moderator Body (NAMB) registration as an Assessor and Moderator will be an advantage Occupational Educational Training Development Practitioner Certificate (OETDP) will be an advantage
Knowledge Requirements:
Competent knowledge of Skills Development Legislative framework. Extensive knowledge of Aviation Organisation Operational Specification & SACAA legal related requirements Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Competent knowledge of modern training methods, techniques and tools. Competent knowledge of modern training methods, techniques and tools. Ability to address training needs with complete courses. Competent knowledge of learner management software. Competent knowledge on how to measure the impact of a learning intervention on Learner.
